   WHY?

The desire to start your own business is often based on the desire to gain the freedom to do it your own way, and to be your own boss. Very often, this desire comes from negative experiences and developments in your life. Experiences as losing your job, serious financial problems, changed family situation, unpleasant circumstances in your present job, the inability to use and develop all your talents in the present situation, etceteras, etceteras.
These are all negative experiences and negative motives. However, negative experiences can be transformed into very positive and strong motives to set goals and to work hard to achieve that goals.

The danger of negative experiences is, that it´s often very hard to free yourself from negative emotions as blaming and shaming, and making a victim and sometimes even a martyr of yourself. If you are not able to get lost of this kind of feelings, you create a very negative and unstable fundament for your new business, and your chance to succeed will decrease with that.
If you are able to use your negative experiences and situation to learn lessons from it, lessons how to do it different and better, and which circumstances you need to avoid, your chances to succeed with your own business, are rather big.
At least, when you follow some general rules needed to succeed in business.

   YOUR INVESTMENT

To create a successful business you have to invest. You need to invest time, effort, energy and money. When you are not able to invest (at least) time and energy, or are not really willing to invest these, better forget it. You will fail then to make a success of your business, and you will end with less money, and more frustration and disillusion.
Having you own business sounds nice, but there is also a price you have to pay to realise your own business. Many people don't want to pay that price, but only want to have the “glamour” of an own business. If you are one of them, don't start. Find a nice job, and keep it that way. You will be much happier then.

   HOW TO START WITHOUT MONEY?

When you have plenty of money, it is much easier to start your own business, because then you can outsource many activities and tasks to professionals. However, the motive to start an own business is often that you don't have money, sometimes not even a job.
Without much money, you still can realise your own business, but then the investment has to come for the biggest part from you in person. To succeed then, you will have to invest more time, more energy and more efforts.
Regrettable, these will have big consequences for other parts of your life, like family and social life. It's very important to be aware of that before you start, and to talk with the people who will be confronted with the consequences of your decision. You will need their support very hard.
These facts count for every kind of business you want to start. It counts also for an Internet business, although it is the cheapest business you can start, and a business you can start from your home.

   WORKING AT HOME

Working at home behind your computer is nice, but is very hard too. To stay disciplined while you are surrounded by the facts of daily life, like kids asking for your attention, television, the postman knocking on your door, the dog who wants to go outside, your house waiting for you to be cleaned, some shopping you have to do, etceteras, etceteras, is very hard. To force yourself to start every morning instead of staying in bed for a long time, or drinking coffee with your friends, isn't easy either and it asks a lot of self-discipline and a strong motivation.
If you and the people around you are not able to validate your work for your business as a job, understanding that you cannot be disturbed all the time, it will be very hard to make a success of your home business.

Many starters “forget” the most basic steps of making a Business Plan and a Marketing Plan to become successful as Internet entrepreneur.
Many starters begin to build a website without having a good plan for their business, and sometimes even without having a good plan for their website.
You have to realise that starting a business is like building a house. Without a solid fundament, each house is built on sand and will collapse with any storm that will pass. That counts also for starting a business. Every business, online and offline.

Do you know that 95% of the starters, worldwide, fail within 3 years? And 80% even within
1 year? The main reason is that most starters don't make good and realistic plans before they start. Many of these starters just started, without any plan or good preparation. They tried something and when that didn´t work, they tried something else.
Because there was a plan missing, that means that they didn't think thoroughly about it before they started, they tried all kind things that just came up in their mind at that moment. That´s not the way to build a successful business.
You don´t want to belong to that 95%, I suppose. So, it'´s better to start with building a solid fundament for your business. Maybe, in the beginning it will slow down the process, it will take much more time than you will like. However, when you have created that good and solid fundament, suddenly everything will go smoothly and fast.
You will be able to survive hard times, to beat your competitors, and to expand your business step by step. You started because you want to stay, and more than that you want to become successful with your business. Isn´t it?
