   MY FIRST STEPS IN THE JUNGLE

When the idea comes into your head that internet could be a solution for you to build or expand your own business, most of the time you don't know anything about it.
Of course you know internet, you use it for ages already. But..., starting a business on internet is something totally different and you don't know where to start, how to do it, what you need, how to build a website, how to earn money with it, etceteras, etceteras. Probably you will start researching the Internet, typing words as “earn money”, “Internet business”, “home business” and maybe even “get rich”. Most people start that way, at least I did.
I knew a lot, from experience, about starting a business, publicity and marketing, and being your own boss, but I knew nothing about starting an Internet business and how to do it.

   DIGGING THE RIVERS OF GOLD

During my research I found tons of information, and a lot of empty promises of earning thousands, and even millions of dollars in just a few weeks. Too many sales letters and emails told me, that it was that easy to earn a lot of money on the Internet, that I hardly had to work anymore to become very, very rich.
I saw and heard a lot of noise, a lot of lies, and very loud shouting of almost hysterical people, who promised me rivers of gold. I just had to spend my money to them and their products, and the dollars would fly into my mouth.
I am a bit ashamed but, a few times, I felt in the trap of that loud shouting people because they had a very convincing story to tell. As soon as I had thrown away my money to them,
I discovered that it was not true at all. Too often their products were trash without real content. Or when it wasn't that bad, it was often not useful for me in my situation, at that moment, although the sales letter had told me something totally different.

Too often, and too many marketers give just half the information, the wrong information or too less information to know for sure that it will be useful for you in your situation, at this moment. Despite the guarantees that I would get my money back when I wasn't satisfied, I managed only one time to get my money back for real.
Most of these hysterical shouting marketers become rich of ignorant, and sometimes desperate, and regular stupid people like you and me. Maybe you have had the same experience already.

   MY MEETING WITH THE HUNGRY WOLVES

I also met a few very hungry wolves. People who asked me to donate several thousands of dollars to them, and then they would help me to get rich in just a short period. Getting such a special opportunity was worth making 'temporarily' debts, because I would earn my money back in just a few weeks and would make huge profits. No guarantees given of course, because failure could only be caused by my lack of motivation and discipline.
One "wolve" even phoned me with this offer. But regrettable for him, this old woman (his words) didn't understand anything of the internet, internet business, and the rare chance given to me. Indeed, I didn't understand what was so very special on his offer to get so much money from me for nothing. But..., that is my age I think.
This phone call must have been rather expensive for him, because he called international and I asked a lot of critical questions. It took at least half an hour before he understood he wouldn't get even one penny from me. L.O.L.

   THE INFORMATIONAL MOUNT EVEREST

During 2 years I researched and studied, almost full time, everything I could find starting and maintaining a business on the Internet. I learnt to build websites, I studied search engine optimization, I researched all possibilities to earn money on the Internet. I studied Internet marketing, I studied email marketing, I studied the hypes, I studied the methods and the tricks of the Internet “gurus”, I analysed websites, I analysed emails and newsletters, etceteras, etceteras.
I subscribed to many newsletters, and received in the beginning a few hundred mails a day. I read everything and tried to discover what the "laws" are of effective and successful Internet marketing, what was true and useful, and what was not true, just trash, or just fast, easy and empty words without any real content.
I subscribed to many Giveaways and received many e-books and software. Only a few software programs were really handy and useful for me. Many e-books were composed with non-information. Only a very small percentage contained information that was really useful. However, almost all e-books, even the useful ones, didn't teach me (step by step) how to do it, and where to start. I was left with very simple and "stupid" questions because I didn't know anything about it. Everything seemed to be created by people who thought I should know that kind of "simple" facts.

I studied and learned so much, that I almost didn't start anymore. The overload of information, true and false, simple and complicated, had become a kind of Mount Everest for me. I didn't know how and where to start anymore. I had reached the point that I thought I would never be able to start my business on the internet, and earn a decent living with it.
